Now, nearly 20 years later, general-purpose computers (ie the PC) rain supreme. However, history tends to repeat itself, and as we transition to a new era of computing, single-purpose computers (such as cameras, E-Readers, PMPs, ect.) are once again imposing threats to the general-purpose computers of the future. I believe that now will be no different than those early days of computing, and general-purpose computers will once again become ubiquitous.
